Where Joel Stands

Though charter schools started as an experiment in education, we need to hold them accountable to the same standards as public schools if they’re receiving public money. Charter schools must have accredited teachers and teachers must have the ability to organize and fight for students and faculty.

Universal early childhood education is a win for everyone. Parents can have dependable and affordable childcare, allowing them to reenter the workforce earlier. Children get a head start that is crucial to closing socioeconomic educational and opportunity gaps.

The Ohio voucher system takes public money and redistributes it to private schools. We need the Ohio public education system to be competitive, well-resourced, and safe. Moreover, if you’re going to be taxed for a public benefit, it should benefit the public.
